An inexpensive and convenient passenger rail service called "Caltrain" operates between San Jose and San Francisco. Trains depart every hour or so beginning at 4:30 AM and ending at 10:30 PM. The journey takes between 60 and 90 minutes and costs approximately $7.75 each way.
The train stops at a number of points including Stanford, Palo Alto and near the San Francisco International Airport.
San Jose Train Service
The main station in San Jose for Caltrain is called San Jose Diridon. The VTA light rail service has a station at Diridon. Other San Jose area stations are Santa Clara, College Park and Tamien. The San Jose International Airport is accessible from the Santa Clara station.
